Thank you for your interest in renting our Bush Lodge in South Africa. By booking your flight separately, you can make considerable savings, compared to the package holiday concepts, available from most travel agents. Once you arrive in the gated complex, which is Raptor’s Lodge, there is always someone on hand to give you a friendly welcome, help to settle you in and resolve any problems. They will also be delighted to help you to arrange big game tours and advise you on many other fantastic places to visit, while you are there. Raptor's Lodge is popular with international travelers, as well as discerning South African families, who appreciate a good deal and avoid more expensive options arranged by the tourist industry. Our fees are a modest 280 pounds per week (for four people) and this includes four star accommodation, two double bedrooms with one luxurious four poster bed and two single beds, two en-suite bathrooms, lounge, sitting-room with TV and DS. TV, fully equipped kitchen area and patio with BBQ area.
Extra outside showers in garden area, all beds fitted with top quality mosquitoes nets, all linen and towels provided, the Lodge is air-conditioned and extra fans are provided and so is your personal carport. The complex also boasts a community pool and sunbathing area and shopping facilities.
DESCRIPTION OF HOLIDAY BUSH LODGE AND SURROUNDING AREA
Situated in the hart of South Africa's wildlife region Lowveld. Located between the small town of Hoedspruit and the foothills of the majestic Drakenberg Mountains, Raptor's Lodge is in the hart of the 'Big Five' country, i.e. Lion, Elephant Giraffe, Rhino and Hippo. Bordering Raptor’s Lodge View Wildlife Estate these lodges are close to tourist attractions, such as Pilgrims Rest, Gods Window, Echo Caves and the world-renowned Kruger Park, not to mention Moholoholo Wildlife Rehabilitation Center, Mafunyani Cultural Village and Bombyx Mori Silk Farm, The Cheetah Breeding Project and Reptile Park.Other activities include Golf, Hot Air Ballooning, Helicopter Scenic Flights, River Rafting, Boat trips on Blyde River, Abseiling, Hiking and Game Walks and Drakenberg Mountain Walks. Raptor’s Lodge is ideally placed as a base from which to explore the wonders of Lowveld and rich diversity of the Limpopo province.
East Gate airport is only 15 minutes drive away from the estate and is serviced daily with flights from Cape Town and Johannesburg.
This cluster of 20 up market self-catering (or Bed and Breakfast), two bedroom, two bathroom thatched lodges are set in a 6.5 acre area (including pool and shopping facilities), with each lodge carefully positioned to maximize the views of the Drakenberg mountain and local bushveld flora.
Each lodge is beautifully decorated in modern bushveld hues and equipped with quality conveniences. Romance is synonymous with Africa four poster beds, oversized baths, outdoor showers and romantic sunsets provided. Intrepid adventures and children of all ages welcome.
HOW TO GET THERE
Book your flight with any of the major airways, but shop around for the best deals, at any given time. British Airways often has good deals (www.ba.com); Nationwide flying from Gatwick is also worth checking out. East Gate Airport is only 15 minutes drive away from the estate and is serviced daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town. You can hire a car from any of the big car hire companies at the airport i.e. Hertz, Alamo, Budgens, etc. An air-conditioned Toyota Corolla for example is a cheap and comfortable ride, which can be kept for the duration of the holiday and give you maximum mobility once on site. However, another option is once you arrive at Joburg International Airport, hire a car from there and make the three and half hour drive to Hoedspruit, through the spectacular South African countryside. A very exiting start to your holiday.
